Proscribed organisations

I recently read a petition calling for the Isle of Man not to proscribe Palestine Action. As the government’s page on proscribed terrorist groups shows , once the UK parliament proscribes a group, it is automatically proscribed here. This the legal effect of s.2(1) of the Island’s Anti-Terrorism and Crime Act 2003 (“the 2003 Act”), which provides that, “For the purposes of this Act an organisation is proscribed if — (a) it is listed in Schedule 2 to the Terrorism Act 2000 (an Act of Parliament) (in this Act referred to as the “UK Act”), or (b) it operates under the same name as an organisation listed in that Schedule”. The Island is required to publish a list of proscribed organisations (see s. 2(3) of the 2003 Act), and publish an amended list as soon as possible after the English list is amended (s. 2(4) of the 2003 Act). The UK prescribed Palestine Action on the 5 July 2025 (Sch. 2 inserted (5.7.2025) by The Terrorism Act 2000 (Proscribed Organisations) (Amendment) Order 2025 (S.I. 2025/803), arts. 1(2), 2]. The Island has already included it on the list published on the website of the Department of Home Affairs.
